STORY
Sebastien didn’t start out in business. In fact, he failed his first year in pharmaceutical studies, then joined the French Air Force, where he served as a commando. After the military, he landed in China and became an entrepreneur in the fashion industry.
Why fashion? His business partner said, “You’re French. You know fashion.” He didn’t, but went ahead anyway. That yes sparked a career built on following curiosity, adapting quickly, and building things from scratch.
Later, Sebastien returned to Europe and pursued a PhD in corporate strategy in partnership with Sanofi Pasteur, focused on how big corporations can innovate more openly and collaboratively.
That’s where he first came across the early white paper on Bitcoin. What fascinated him beyond the tech was the social impact: what if people could build decentralised institutions that worked better for society?
Years later, he helped a bank develop a Web3 ecosystem to bridge traditional finance and decentralised systems. He learnt fast, driven by a belief that tech should serve people.
Over time, a deeper frustration set in. Many impactful ideas were stuck in corporate politics and outdated systems. Sebastien realized that something needed to be reinvented — from the ground up, not from legacy systems.
And that was how xcube.co was born.
